I come from a country of great cultural diversity and ancestral traditions. A society produced by the western and ethnocentric colonizing clash, with cultures whose world views were not uncomfortable with diversity. I was born at a time when globalization and technology are blurring geographical and cultural boundaries, so the notion of identity is something that raises many questions for me because of its abstract nature, but at the same time, it is a very vibrant one. This pluriculturality has a great influence on my personal construction process, my reflection and consequently my vision of art.

According to Jonathan Culler: “Identity is the product of a series of partial identifications that are never completed”, in other words, we are constantly produced. Therefore, there is no single centre, no single essence. Migrating to Europe accentuated my reflection of identity. Questions such as: How do I build my identity from this moment on? Whether I want to build myself more consciously, that is to say without looking for an essence, do I have to identify myself from a context? If so, what context do I identify with? As for languages, which are the basis of our understanding of the world, can new meanings be constructed from established meanings?

These questions lead my current artistic proposal: to decontextualize linguistic and symbolic characters in order to resignify them from a system of representation that links both the conceptual maps present in our minds with a set of signs whose meanings are yet to be constructed. This is the action I seek through my proposal, that is, to build a bridge between differences through similarities.
